The main conference will be organized at The Hanasaari Swedish-Finnish Cultural Centre in Espoo. The venue is located in the midst of an archipelago, ca 6 km West of the Helsinki city center. For more information, see the Hanasaari home page.

Please note that there is another Hanasaari in Helsinki, about 3 km North-East of the city center, so you should always use “Hanasaari, Espoo” when getting directions to the conference venue.

The tutorials will be organized at Aalto University Otaniemi campus Computer Science and Engineering building (building number 30 in the map) in Otaniemi, Espoo.

Getting to Hanasaari

From Helsinki city center

Hanasaari is served by all buses operating along the Westway (“Länsiväylä”) motorway from Helsinki.  The buses start from platforms 41-55 at the Kamppi central bus terminal (co-located with the Kamppi shopping center).

Please note that you need a regional bus ticket to reach Hanasaari as you are crossing a municipality border. A single ticket from the driver or from a ticket machine costs 4.50 €. It is also possible to purchase 1-7 day tickets in advance, but make sure you get a regional one. See here for more information.

The trip takes approximately 10 minutes and Hanasaari is the first bus stop along the motorway. The Hanasaari bus stop is ca 400 metres from the Cultural Centre.

From Otaniemi

Hanasaari is located along the bus route from Otaniemi to Helsinki. The buses 102, 102T, 103 and 103T operate on the route. The trip takes approximately 10 minutes. The Hanasaari bus stop is ca 400 metres from the Cultural Centre.

An internal bus ticket is sufficient for traveling between Otaniemi and Hanasaari. A single ticket from the driver costs 2.80 €. It is also possible to purchase 1-7 day tickets in advance, but you need a regional ticket if you want to travel to Helsinki as well. See here for more information.

Accommodation at Hanasaari

Hotel Hanasaari features 61 rooms that are located at the same building as the conference venue. These rooms have been pre-booked and are available on a first-come, first-served policy to the conference delegates.  For further instructions and for other accommodation options, see the Travel information page.

Please note that Hotel Hanasaari will be closed after the conference on Thursday, June 20, as Midsummer begins on the following day. Please consider other accommodation options if you wish to stay in Finland after the conference. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Getting to Otaniemi

The regional buses 102, 102T, 103 and 103T operate on the route from Helsinki to Otaniemi. Hanasaari is also located along the bus route. The trip from Helsinki to Otaniemi takes approximately 20 minutes.

An internal bus ticket is sufficient for traveling between Otaniemi and Hanasaari, but you need a regional ticket when starting your journey from Helsinki.
